Our beautiful Problem Owner Molly saw the need for CONNECTION in young adults who suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Having shared her own journey of living with IBD and experiencing the lack of support and connection, Molly was empowered to make a difference. In her research Molly encountered the Mind-gut connection. The mind-gut connection refers to how the health of your digestive system can affect the health of your mind, and visa versa. This notion is supported by scientific theory which believes that stress reduction techniques can be useful to help improve the behaviours that worsen IBD.

With this in mind Molly created Oscar the Mind-Gut Guru, whose purpose is to be a digital support system the explores empathetic ways that young adults suffers with (IBD) can manage their experience. Oscar offers Mind-Gut activities to help relieve the stresses and anxiety sufferers may experience during their daily activities.

Our challenge was to bring life to Oscar in the form of an application and create features that would benefit those living with this “Invisible disease”.
